  • 8 & Beyond Weaving Study Group

Meets on the 4th Tuesday of each month from 10:30 am-12:30 pm via zoom. We are currently studying the new book published by Complex Weavers, “Eight Shafts - Beyond the Beginning” and enjoying the discussions. We welcome new members interested in weaving with eight or more shafts. You can join at any time and all you need is the book. 8-beyond@rmwg.org .

  • Beyond the Scarf Study Group. Weaving for Clothing

A group whose main focus is weaving for clothing. Our summer project has been weaving and sewing a summer top. For fall we are doing a Mountain and Plains Fibershed project making something within our fibershed region and expanding slightly to include West Texas for the colored cotton grown there. We meet on the second Thursday of the month, 10 am at the Harvey Park Christian Church. Any questions, contact Judy Lepthien, scarf@rmwg.org.

  • Shibori Study Group

Shibori is a Japanese resist-dyeing technique, similar to “tie dye,” that shapes and secures cloth by various means-- folding, crumpling, stitching, plaiting, plucking, or twisting—thus giving fabric a three-dimensional form before dyeing. The Shibori Study Group is for all levels, beginner through advanced who wish to learn how to create Shibori. Please email shibori@rmwg.org to indicate your interest and find out when/where the next monthly meeting is. Please email shibori@rmwg.org.

  • Rookies Out of Bounds Study Group

How do I use my loom? Can I use this old yarn for a warp? How do I fix a broken warp thread? What is this random wooden tool I got with my loom? Rookies interlaces weavers of all skill levels to help build weaving confidence and community. This group covers weaving topics from planning to finishing. New weavers; join to learn new skills. Seasoned weavers; share your knowledge to grow our weaving community. The November and December meetings will be covering topics related to getting a project started: draft reading, project ideas, warping, yarn calculations, etc. Contact rookies@rmwg.org for meeting time and place.

  • Banded Together Tablet Weaving Study Group

  • Dances with Wool Spinning Study Group

Meets on the second Saturday of the month in the Activity room of the church from 10:00 a.m. to 1 p.m. This group is currently meeting in person and welcomes new members at any time. There is not a planned project, but if there is something someone in the group wants to learn, there is probably someone who can teach it. This group meets yearround and is always willing to help someone new. Contact Mirya Rule at danceswithwool@rmwg.org .

  • Adventures in Knitting

A technique based knit along study group for all skill levels. We meet on the third Monday of the month from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m at the church. During each meeting we discuss a specific knitting technique, along with patterns to practice what we've learned. Examples of knitting techniques to be studied include cast ons/offs, brioche knitting, cables, mosaic knitting, finishing techniques, mastering gauge, colorwork and more. Since knitting is done just one stitch at a time, new members are welcome to join at any time. We plan techniques and patterns to study as a group, so bring your ideas to share! Contact adventuresinknitting@rmwg.org

  • Mentoring

One of the goals of the guild is to pass our knowledge of weaving, spinning, dyeing, and other fiber arts on to others. To facilitate that within the guild we encourage mentoring. In previous years we have paired seekers with mentors, have held mentoring groups and have helped to direct inquirers to places in the community where they can take classes. We have also sometimes had an open mentoring session after each regular guild meeting. The purpose is to encourage individuals by answering questions and pairing them with other guild members who will be able to continue to help. If you are interested as either a mentor or a seeker, send a request to president@rmwg.org.
